Bird Feeding Innovations

Wild Birds Unlimited Classic FeederA Bird Feeding Classic

It all started with the WBU Classic Bird Feeder. In 1990, Jim Carpenter, founder, president and CEO of Wild Birds Unlimited, set out to create the perfect wooden bird feeder. He designed a stylish, durable and easily maintainable feeder that offered the one feature found in no other feeder - the ability to see bird feeding better. That day, the Wild Birds Unlimited Classic Hopper Feeder was born. Its design has kept its integrity for over 23 years, has been awarded a coveted 3D Design Patent and has become the symbol for the Wild Birds Unlimited franchise.

The unique design of our Classic has been the standard for all of our wooden and recycled plastic line of hopper feeders. The curved design allows you to see birds feeding on both sides at the same time. Other features include perch drains that allow seed to drop out of the feeder for ground-feeding birds to eat and angled perches that allow empty seed hulls to be blown away by the wind, making the feeder self-cleaning.

Imagine a wood-free bird feeder that looks like wood! Our EcoTough® Classic won't crack, fade or rot and has a long history of holding up against our WI elements as this feeder is made in Chilton, WI. EcoTough feeders and houses are environmentally friendly, high-quality products that are made from recycled plastic milk jugs. These feeders and houses prevent used milk jugs from making their way into our landfills.

A Classic Sequel

Following up our patented Classic wasn't easy, but we did it. A smaller version of its predecessor, the Classic Too's specially designed curved ends enable you to view feeding birds better while its perch drains allow seeds to fall for ground-feeding birds. Its angled perches let empty seed hulls blow away with the wind, making it a very efficient, self-cleaning feeder. This is one sequel that lives up to the original. (Bird food not included.)

See What's On The Tube Today

It's always entertaining birdwatching when chickadees, cardinals, grosbeaks, titmice and finches stack up on our tube feeders. Most birds that prefer to feed at an elevated feeder will visit a tube feeder; our tube feeders are popular because they come in a variety of sizes and seed capacities and efficiently dispense a wide variety of seed. They also feature a quick clean bottom, making it easy to clean your feeders any time.

We have a tube feeder finch line as well, these bright yellow bottom feeders also feature the quick clean bottoms making cleaning and filling easy for everyone.

The Prop-er Way to Eat

The EcoTough® Tail Prop Suet Feeder lets birds eat in a natural way. The paddle simulates a tree trunk and offers birds a place to prop their tail while they feed. Large woodpeckers need something to balance against otherwise their tails are too large to keep them upright long enough for them to get their fill from your suet feeders.

Upside Down

These upside-down suet feeders are a good way to deter other, non-clinging, birds from eating the suet such as starlings and grackles. Since woodpeckers, nuthatches, chickadees, and titmice will gladly hang upside down to get their grub this feeder is a good way to weed out those non-clingers.
